Green Building LLC has all of the in-house expertise and/or partnerships to provide full service energy and "green" audits of homes and commercial buildings. Our "green" audits go beyond energy to look at water use, material use, indoor air quality, and facility management.  Through our partnerships with preferred contractors we can also make sure that the work or repairs identified in audits can be implemented.

Residential Audits

Our residential  audits provide homeowners with the knowledge and action plan to reduce operating expenses related to energy and water in both new construction and existing homes.  Our team provides a comprehensive analysis that uses advanced equipment to test and measure home performance and identifies opportunities for reducing consumption, renewable energy feasibility analysis, and a breakdown of current incentives available for energy efficiency and renewable energy.  Our partnerships with various contracting firms can also provide homeowners a convenient way to get the jobs done.

Commercial Audits

A commercial audit can be structured to meet the ASHRAE standards for commercial energy auditing.  An analysis of building operations, energy and water efficiency options, renewable energy analysis, building commissioning requirements, and available incentives can all be part of the audit process.  As with our residential program, our partnerships with various contracting firms can be used to help implement our recommendations for building improvements.

Energy Rating with HERS and Energy Star

Some organizations provide national standards for measuring energy efficiency.  At the top of the list is the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) with its Home Energy Rating System (HERS) and the DOE/EPA Energy Star program.  The HERS system provides an analysis of home performance and related home performance score.  The score is based on comparing the efficiency of the home to the same home if it was built to meet the 2004 International Energy Conservation Code.   The score is generated through energy modeling, building inspections, and performance testing, and it provides a standardized way to compare the efficiency of homes.  Green Building LLC is the only HERS rating organization on Maui and one of just several in the state.

Energy Star uses the HERS testing, inspections, and modeling to verify Energy Star New Homes performance.  There is also a comparative scoring tool based on utility bill analysis called the Portfolio Manager used for commercial Energy Star compliance.  Green Building LLC is an Energy Star Partner and can help properties manage both the residential and commercial Energy Star certification processes.
